Throughout my life I have had to make many changes, which have
led to losses some were by choice, others were not. The difficulties
this can cause are demonstrated to me by the short life cycle of
worker wasps and the way they start off life

They are a very important and essential part of their community, working hard collecting food, but are content in having a purpose
in life. This feeling of fulfilment was fine until they realised that
their queen no longer required their services. Who has now
moved on to new territory.

These wasps seem to be in control of events and their life is wonderful. Then the knowledge of not being required makes the wasps become angry and frustrated having lost their importance and feeling of self worth. How ironic it is at times throughout our lives we may experience these same feelings and situations.

They have time on their hands and have not been trained for any
other rolls in life. They rush about aimlessly, troubling other communities; these are communities not prepared to tolerate this,
and take action to deal with their aggressive behaviour.

It is very difficult to make changes in our lives that are not planned
and it can make us feel angry and frustrated with feelings of despair when unforeseen circumstances force us to make those changes.
Some of those changes can be painful.

I believe unlike worker wasps, with help and support of others, we
do have the chance to make changes to patterns of our lives, and
maybe these changes are a necessary part of life's rich tapestry
in reaching 'Maslow self-actualisation'.
